Gotch yer walkin’ stick?

Headin’ Fer Mile Marker 1

Better forget the walking shoes and break out the boots. Today is Christmas Eve 2012 and it is snowing. It started around 11 am this morning while we were shopping at the local Food Lion for a few last-minute items. Number 1 on the list was jerky for our dog Floppy.

Floppy- The Good Son

What he needs is always at the top of our list. We make sure he wants for nothing. He’s 11 1/2 years old now yet he looks like he has since he was an adult.  Also quite spry and fit as a fiddle. I am very dependent on him as my co-host on our radio station. My wife Susan and I are fortunate to have such a good son.

We have a bunch of bird feeders with different types of seed and suet. We have a finch sock loaded with nyjer seed which the finches simply adore. We get finches in a range of colors from gold to green to purple. The get about 5 varieties of woodpeckers from small to large. The largest is the Pileated Woodpecker which is an awesome bird to see. And of course we have sunflower seeds which all the different varieties of birds love. The squirrels and bears have quite a hankering for them too.

Here are a photo I took after returning from town around 11:30 am through the sliding glass door in our great room…

Feeders on our back deck.

I took these shots around 3 pm through the front door and a window from each bedroom…

Tis Christmas Eve at 4:30 pm and the day’s light is beginning to fade. Half the light appears to be emanating from ground now covered in snow. Looking through the window the light, gives the illusion of seeing an old black and white or sepia toned photograph.
